Deficiency in phagocytosis. This is an X-linked inherited disorder that results in chronic granulomatous lesions of lymph nodes, liver, bone, skin, and lung. Patients have marked lymphadenopathy and hepato-splenomegaly. The responsible organism usually are Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, or fungi.
